A comprehensive restoration and construction programme in the heart of this historic conservation area effected a much awaited transformation and revitalisation. A limited number of sensitive but contemporary new buildings compliment the existing architecture and townscape securing the future of several key historic buildings.
Oakshaw is tucked away, almost hidden, from the buzz of the nearby town centre shops and cafes. An historic quarter of cobbled wynds and braes, with a particularly fine townscape of civic and ecclesiastical buildings, together which create the stunning skyline of towers, domes and spires that dominate Paisley. A multi phased regeneration project in Oakshaw, Paisley’s Outstanding Conservation Area, in the key precinct of Oakshaw Street, Church Hill, School Wynd & Orr Square aimed to preserve and enhance both of Oakshaw’s principal axes. Combining restoration and conversion of notable listed buildings and select new build interventions we succeeded in creating some 70+ contemporary apartments. Quietly proud to play a major part in enabling such a worthwhile reinvigoration of a beautiful yet overlooked part of Paisley’s heritage we worked with Renfrewshire Council, Renfrewshire Enterprise and Scottish Homes to ensure that we delivered a much needed residential redensification to this historic part of the town centre. |
